Testing Companies
Testing your integration with a Bokio testing company lets you work with realistic accounting data without affecting a real company's financial records.
You can manage testing companies from Settings in the Bokio Developer Portal. Each developer account can connect up to five testing companies.
Types of testing company
There are two types of testing company available in the Developer Portal:

You can have up to five connected testing companies, but only one can be the Dev Test Company. The Dev Test Company counts toward the five-company limit.
The Dev Test Company is still a test company. Some of the test company restrictions still remain in place, and it should not be used for production data or live business operations.
Add a testing company
You can create a new test company from the Developer Portal or connect an existing Bokio test company.
- Sign in to the Bokio Developer Portal.
- Select Settings in the left menu.
- Find Testing Companies and select Add company.
- Choose one of the following options:
- Existing company: Enter the Company ID of a Bokio test company that you own.
- Create new company: Enter a company name. Bokio creates a new test company with default settings.
- To give the company the extended testing capability, select Mark as Dev Test Company.
- Select Add.
The company can now access your developer account's draft and pending marketplace integrations for testing.
Change the company type
An Admin or Super admin can change a connected Test Company into the Dev Test Company from the Testing Companies section.
To use a different company as the Dev Test Company, first reset the current Dev Test Company to a Test Company. You can then designate another connected company.
Changing the type does not delete the company or its data.
Disconnect a testing company
In Settings, open the actions menu for the company and select Disconnect.
Disconnecting removes the association with your developer account and access to its unpublished marketplace integrations. The company and its data remain available in Bokio.
Recommended testing workflow
- Use a Test Company for focused API and marketplace-preview checks.
- Use the Dev Test Company when your bookkeeping scenarios require more than 30 verifications.
- Verify that API operations are reflected correctly in Bokio and that calculations and entries match your expectations.
- Complete your tests before connecting the integration to a real company.
