Testing your integration

This guide will explain how you can test your integration in Bokio.

Testing your integration in a test company is important for several reasons:

  • Protect your real financial data: Changes made through the API will affect your accounting records. Using a test company keeps your actual business data safe.
  • Avoid accounting errors: Since the API is in beta, unexpected behaviors could create accounting mistakes in your real accounting.
  • Learn safely: You can experiment freely without worrying about consequences to your official financial records.
  • Prepare for implementation: Once you're confident everything works as expected, you can apply the same processes to your real company.

How to Test the Bokio API in a Test Company

Step 1: Create a Test Company

  • Log in to your Bokio account.
  • After logging in, click the company name in the top left and click on Create a test company, then fill in the details to set it up.
  • To learn more about setting up your test company, check out the guide.

Step 2: Generate API keys

  • Visit Integrations under Additional services in the left menu.
  • Here you can now create and manage your API keys for private integrations.

Step 3: Conduct Your Testing

  • Start with basic API calls to understand the response formats.
  • Gradually test more complex scenarios.
  • Document any unexpected behaviors or errors.

Step 4: Review Results

  • Check that the API operations are correctly reflected in your test company's records.
  • Verify that calculations and entries match your expectations.

Once you're satisfied with how everything works in your test environment, you'll be better prepared to implement the integration with your actual company.
